Measure width at the intended cabinet height. Walls can taper, tile can project and trim can reduce clear space. Record ceiling, backsplash, faucet, sconce, outlet and side-wall positions.
Identify studs, plumbing vents, supply lines, drains and electrical cables. Do not cut a recessed opening until the cavity has been evaluated. A plumbing wall may require surface mounting or redesign.
Width, height, frame profile and door divisions differ by model. Use the product-specific drawing to set blocking and rough opening dimensions.
A large cabinet needs structural attachment across its width. Continuous blocking during renovation is ideal when the instructions call for it. Finished-wall installations may require a model-specific mounting rail and stud pattern.
Surface mounting avoids a large wall opening and is often more practical in an existing bathroom. The cabinet projects from the wall, so check side views, faucet reach and door clearances. Surface mounting does not mean light-duty mounting; the support system still needs to transfer the load to suitable structure.
Recessing produces a built-in look and reduces projection, but the opening must be straight, square and deep enough. Framing changes may affect plumbing or electrical routes and can require permits. Measure doors, stairs and turns before delivery.
